This is probably an unprecedented project in Greece.
It involved filming 30 of the most emblematic representatives of
historical science in Greece, with the intention of putting their testimonies on record and preserving them.
The interviewees discuss themselves their scientific, intellectual, political and in many cases personal journey in the 20th century.
The selection of historians was based on their highly respected profile within the scientific community and their age (which had to be over 60).
Preparation, filming and editing spanned almost three years.
The series was intended for the website of the University of Peloponnese, where students and scholars would be able to access the invaluable testimonies of these prestigious scientists.
The interviews were conducted by Antonis Liakos, Efi Gazi, Vangelis Karamanolakis, Manos Avgeridis and Emilia Salvanou.
I did the filming, assisted in many cases by Apostolia.
The editing process was complicated as it underwent continuous changes owing to modifications requested by some of the interviewees.
It was quite an experience to be found so close to ‘History’ and capture it on film!
30 films, of one to two hours in duration each, for an equal number of personalities, who have influenced historical science in this country.
