The two MEPs were Leonidas Kyrkos, who was elected in 1981, at the first European election, and Kostas Filinis who succeeded him.
The Contemporary Social History Archives Institution (ASKI) assigned me a film that would examine the conditions, the historical framework, the claims and the political climate during the first appointment of a Greek MEP of the Renewing Left to Strasbourg, back in the 80s.
It made for a succinct yet engaging historical documentary, which was shown at the GSEE (General Confederation of Greek Workers) headquarters, at the end of 2008, as part of a two-day conference.
The two speakers were Leonidas Kyrkos and Kostas Filinis and they were interviewed individually.
