Back then, there were still child beggars by the traffic lights. I remember that Dimitris Kordelas and I were going around all the time with the camera looking for them, as the situation was really tough. Their protectors-exploiters were lurking about and at the sight of a camera they would give them a whistle signal to clear out. In the end, we had to work undercover, in order to capture some piece of spontaneous action. It was my first, and understandably limited in duration, attempt on observational documentary. It was made in collaboration with Unicef and it was the first time I wrote the scripts for the narration and did the voiceover myself.
