I think this is one of the most influential programs in the history of European television, by virtue of it being a powerful documentation.
The series first aired in 2006 and was completed in 2013.
In a period of seven years, the most outstanding authors the world over were recorded on tape.
About 90 episodes!!!
The young and promising, who went on to become great, the established, the Nobel laureates, everyone.
And all that, was not produced by French, English or American television, but by ERT and on a meager budget.

As for me, I was able to make only two episodes, owing to my fear of flying, at the time.
Long travel was a precondition for the series.
I was fortunate enough to be able to make the episode on Saramago, because it coincided with his visit to Patras, while for the episode on Tabucchi I had to travel to Italy, but went there on a ferry.
Eventually, some time after 2007, I started taking the plane, but it took a while until I got over my fear completely. (It is not that I enjoy flying...).
These two episodes, I made, were produced by Periplous.

From the following year, production changed hands and executive producer Stavros Meleas took over.
He worked with a very good team of seasoned filmmakers that had worked for Periplous the year before.
He invited me to go and work with him. I got very near to traveling to Italy again, about an episode on Andrea Camilleri, but things did not go further, since, apart from my known phobia of airplanes, I was also fully into my film on Makronisos.

So, I didn’t get beyond those two episodes and I consider it a great privilege to have been involved in such a great program, even if only for a couple of works.
My brief collaboration with Adaios Chrysostomidis and Mikela Hartoulari was nothing short of amazing.

Adaios’ death of a degenerative disease was painful and premature.
