For the last 30 years, Achilleas Kyriakidis has been an important figure in the domestic intellectual and public platform.
A top-notch translator, not only of Borges, with whom his name has been linked closely, an extraordinary short-story writer, essayist, film critic and of course filmmaker, always in short format. Above all, it is his sharp mind, his sense of humor and his finesse that distinguish him. And by all means his adulation for Olympiacos and football in general.
This 2006 documentary encompasses all those aspects, producing a delightful blend; with playfulness and lightness, effortlessly deep and the aura of a man, who is invaluable to us all.
I recall that when we went shooting at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium, where Kyriakidis was going to talk about his passion for Olympiacos, he showed up in a red jacket. When we finished I told him that I was going to have the color digitally changed into green in postproduction.
It was the only time that he lost his famous humor and for a split second his smile was wiped off his face…
